On July 1, with the precise installation of the final pair of long rails, the Xi'an-Yan'an High-Speed Railway successfully achieved track completion, laying a solid foundation for its scheduled opening and operation.
Track laying work began on April 18, covering the section from Xi'anbei Railway Station to Yan'an Railway Station, with a mainline track length of 600 kilometers. The Xi'an-Yan'an High Speed Railway crosses the loess plateau's ravine terrain, with bridges and tunnels accounting for 91% of the entire line. The construction involved 16 long sloped track-laying sections, presenting high difficulty, tight schedules, strict accuracy requirements and frequent overlapping operations.
The Xi'an-Yan'an High Speed Railway is the first high-speed rail in the Shaanbei old revolutionary base area and an important component of the Baotou-Yinchuan-Haikou High Speed Railway corridor within the national high speed rail network. Together with the under-construction Xi'an-Chongqing High Speed Railway, it forms a major north-south corridor and is a key part of Shaanxi Province's "all-reaching" high speed rail network backbone. The line is 299.8 kilometers long, built as a double-track high-speed railway designed for speeds up to 350 km/h. Once operational, travel time between Xi'an and Yan'an will be reduced from the current 2.5 hours to about 1 hour.
